Producing issue briefs focusing on federal policies that affect the quality of health care

This grant provides funds to the Urban Institute to conduct "quick-strike" policy research and analysis about federal policies that are intended to improve the quality of health care. National health care organizations and federal policy-makers in Washington, D.C., are actively debating and creating policies to change the way we deliver and pay for health care in this country. Those proposing the policies clearly intend them to have an effect on the quality of health care, but in very different ways. This project will build on a model already established by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, which has supported quick-strike analyses by the Institute on issues related to coverage and costs. Deliverables will be five policy briefs on topics such as an analysis of health information technology as it relates to better quality, and an analysis of public reporting and potential effects on the quality of care.
