Under this grant, the Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) will undertake a two-year project to help transform New Jersey's Medicaid managed acute care and long-term care programs. This work represents the most significant opportunity of the last 10 years to influence these programs. The main goal of this project is to help the state restructure its managed acute care contract and design a new managed long-term care program. Project deliverables include: (1) an inventory of the data that have been collected, analyzed and used to oversee the state's current managed care program; (2) a strategic planning session with senior staff of the New Jersey Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services; (3) a small-group consultation with the Department of Health and Senior Services for designing a managed long-term care program; and (4) a case study that will be made available to other states through CHCS's ongoing communications and technical assistance vehicles.
