This grant supports a special issue of the "Journal of Health and Social Behavior" (JHSB) on the policy implications for improving health based on key findings in medical sociology over the past 50 years. JHSB will launch the issue during a special session of the annual American Sociological Association meeting, in December 2010. To increase dissemination of the policy implications beyond the regular audience of the journal and the association, JHSB will produce an executive summary to communicate the findings and policy implications from each of 12 topic areas and distribute it widely to the media, policy-makers, funders and health scholars outside of sociology.
