This grant will improve the health and well-being of high-risk young men, ages 14 to 23, in Harlem, New York City, by supporting comprehensive and diverse programs focused on leadership development, educational achievement and health education. Specific instruction includes a rites-of-passage program, a teens-after-school program, a summer leadership program and a youth-led, community-organizing program. The grantee will work with the young men to remain in school and outside the justice system, with the goals of enhanced academic performance and life skills.
