The purpose of this project is to replicate the YMCA of the USA's Pioneering Healthier Communities initiative, which has trained teams of community leaders across the United States to make their communities healthier. The deliverable will be to replicate the initiative in 32 communities in six states by using the YMCA's state alliances to team local leaders with state-level stakeholders to develop a state action plan for policy change supporting childhood obesity prevention. The YMCA will develop all communications-related activities and products in collaboration with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Childhood Obesity communications team. No portion of the RWJF grant will support lobbying activities or any communication to legislators reflecting a view on specific legislation.
