The Foundation's program, Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities: Supporting Community Action to Prevent Childhood Obesity, was designed to catalyze and support policy and environmental change projects to promote children's physical activity and healthy eating, especially in lower-income and racial/ethnic communities at greatest risk. This project is an Active Living by Design Sustainability Award, which is designed to support efforts to disseminate, sustain and/or institutionalize active living initiatives beyond the current ALbD funding. The purpose of the project is to focus on the 100-acre State Park, with the primary goal to establish long-term sustainability for the park. Deliverables include creating a Community Partnership/Park Sustainability Plan, creating resources about the importance of investment in the development and maintenance of the park and producing results from a planning retreat and open space community planning meeting.
