This Center, led and housed at the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement, has engaged its strategic partner, PolicyLink, to collaboratively carry out several formative and fundamental tasks. Formative tasks include: developing an infrastructure for communication and close collaboration between the Center, its partner and RWJF; hiring and outfitting 23 full-time staff. Fundamental tasks include: building strategic relationships with, between and among RWJF national program offices, grantees and funding partners; providing hands-on technical assistance to the Foundation's action-oriented grantees; promoting best practices and approaches to information seekers; hosting large and small conferences and meetings; and, supporting community, state, regional and national action programs. Other broad activities that fall under this grant include providing 10 - 40 Strategic Partnership Awards for engaging new partners, Web site development, maintenance and hosting, development of a strategic policy map for the field, and planning and hosting a childhood obesity summit in early 2009. Additionally, the Center will work closely with RWJF staff on these activities and on the communications materials that are developed.
