A previously funded project was a pilot schoolyard revitalization campaign, Oakland Schoolyards Initiative OSI. The goal was to organize youth, parents, and teachers to: (1) develop schoolyard improvement plans at three schools; (2) lead a policy advocacy strategy to earn public and private support for the schoolyard improvement plan; and (3) establish a citywide coalition to advance schoolyard revitalization. These transition funds will be used to replicate the Oakland Schoolyards Initiative neighborhood pilot projects through the City of Oakland, California. Ongoing funding will come from grants from the Stewardship Council, the East Bay Community Foundation, the California Endowment and Oakland Unified School District.
