Planning a national nursing quality and safety alliance

The purpose of this project is to support a one-year planning process to lay the groundwork for the establishment of a Nursing Quality and Safety Alliance (NQSA). The NQSA will leverage the single largest health care workforce, nurses, and provide a platform for nursing leaders to engage in the national dialogue on performance measurement, public reporting and pay-for-performance. It will also inform nursing leaders around the country about national policies on these issues and their impact on nursing. Deliverables will include: (1) the identification of functions, roles, and priorities for the NQSA; (2) a governance structure; (3) a scope of work and budget for sustainability; and (4) measures of success.
