The purpose of the project is to develop a better understanding of the future context for philanthropic work as a means of helping the field respond effectively to a rapidly changing environment. This project builds on previous work conducted by the Monitor Institute on the future of philanthropy supported by the Kellogg and Packard Foundations. This project will focus on leaders of established philanthropic organizations interested in taking a fundamental look at the way they do their work, and new philanthropists and emerging institutions interested in trying to do things differently. Deliverables include presentations and products that summarize the key trends and implications in the dynamics between 'new' and 'old' philanthropy, social investing, market-based solutions, shifts in sector relationships, partnerships, globalization of philanthropy, online platforms, and accountability.
