Support for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) national summit on legal preparedness for obesity prevention and control

This grant provides support for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's second national Summit on Legal Preparedness in Atlanta. The conference, "Legal Preparedness for Obesity Prevention and Control," will: (1) determine how laws are currently being used to help reduce rates of obesity; (2) bring new partners into the discussion; and (3) help to create an agenda related to law and policy that could be easily adaptable in schools, at worksites, in communities and in medical and clinical settings. The deliverable will be eight white papers--consolidated into a single published article in a supplement of the Journal of Law, Medicine and Ethics--that will assess the efficacy of how legal tools are now being used to prevent and control obesity, and will discuss other ways to employ those tools in that effort.
