For this project, a team of researchers from the University of California, San Diego, sought toÿidentify how commercially available exergames create behavior changes and how they impact adolescents' physical activity levels. The researchers conducted a study using the Xavix system (games with sport equipment controllers for tennis, boxing, bowling, cardio-fitness and other sports), and developed a coding system to categorize exergames and determine what types of behaviors they change in adolescent players.
This project was funded as part of Health Games Research, a national program of the Pioneer Portfolio dedicated to funding and supporting research to advance the effectiveness of interactive games for health.
