Through this project, a Union College team conducted a randomized clinical trial to identify individual and situational factors influencing exercise behaviors and health outcomes in community-dwelling adults over the age of 50. The study combined a stationary bicycle with cardiovascular exergame software, which provided individualized feedback to the rider as well as a three-dimensional virtual exercise environment that could be shared with other players competitively or collaboratively.
This project was funded as part of Health Games Research, a national program of the Pioneer Portfolio dedicated to funding and supporting research to advance the effectiveness of interactive games for health.
