Exploring the role of the nurse in implementing the Green House model

This project will explore the role of nurses in Green House home residences for six to ten elders who require skilled care in an effort to maintain a rich lifestyle and describe variations in nursing across those sites. Specifically, the project will compare the direct resident care of Green House nurses with the care provided by nurses in traditional nursing homes, and will examine the relationship between Green House nurses and the Shahbazim, trained direct-care providers used in Green Houses. Deliverables will include: (1) an internal report to be submitted to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Green House leadership in September 2008; (2) a final report to be submitted to those organizations and all Green House sites in October 2008; (3) articles to be submitted to peer-reviewed journals; and (4) possible presentations at national conferences.
