Developing a child-focused personal medication management system

The Foundation's program, Project HealthDesign: Rethinking the Power and Potential of Personal Health Records, was designed to expand a vision of personal health records and encourage the market to develop products that meet the diverse needs of patients. MyMediHealth has allowed the Vanderbilt project to explore the vision of medication management in an era with interoperable medication history and other data. At present, Vanderbilt is prototyping the components into an existing PHR platform, so that they can demonstrate the comprehensive capabilities and complex informatics requirements for MyMediHealth.Transitional funds for the MyMediHealth project have been provided so that this interim period can be utilized to conduct usability studies of core components and of the tools needed to teach PHR-naïve families in order to get maximum benefit from this technology. These tools will provide preliminary data to allow continued development and the refinement of the model for a child-centered PHR.
