This project will continue support for the adoption of health information technology (HIT), which has the potential to accelerate improvements in the quality of health care but which has been slow to gain acceptance by doctors, nurses, hospitals and clinics. The deliverable will be two annual reports that will: (1) report on the most current information on the adoption of HIT; (2) evaluate the effect of HIT on the cost and quality of care; (3) assess options for promoting the adoption of HIT; (4) evaluate the current body of evidence on the value of HIT; and (5) monitor the impact of the adoption of HIT on racial and ethnic disparities in health care.
