Developing new measures of the adequacy of private health insurance coverage

The purpose of this project is to develop new measures of the adequacy of health insurance coverage. The strategic objective of the Foundation's Health Insurance Coverage Team is to achieve stable and affordable coverage for all Americans. However, the Team will not reach its goal if more Americans get coverage but it is inadequate for serious medical conditions. The deliverables will be: (1) a report on the out-of-pocket costs patients might incur under specific policies, and (2) briefings for federal and state policy-makers and patient organizations on the findings.
