The Foundation's program, Consumer Voices for Coverage: Strengthening State Advocacy Networks to Expand Health Coverage, was designed to support state-based consumer health advocacy networks to increase their capacity to participate in health care reform efforts with key stakeholders, such as businesses, hospitals, insurers, providers and government officialsThe purpose of this project is to achieve affordable and comprehensive health coverage for all New Yorkers by 2010. Its strategy is to develop a set of standards that will scrutinize rigorously all universal health coverage proposals, providing an easily digestible comparison scorecard for both consumers and policy makers. The project will develop a rapid response system for responding to policy makers, stakeholders and the media, thereby consistently and credibly inserting the consumer perspective into New York's universal coverage conversation.
