Disseminating the results of the third national School Nutrition Dietary Assessment Study

This grant supports the preparation and dissemination of a special supplement to the "Journal of the American Dietetic Association." The supplement will present findings from the third School Nutrition Dietary Assessment Study (SNDA-III), the most comprehensive, recent, and nationally representative study about school food environments and children's food intake over the course of the school day. SNDA-III findings will provide invaluable information about school food environments; students' food consumption behaviors; and relationships among school food environments, students' food intake, and students' weight status. Nine papers and a guest editorial by Dr. Mary Story, Director of RWJF's Healthy Eating Research program, are envisioned for the supplement, which will be disseminated in hard copy and online formats. Mathematica Policy Research (MPR) will brief Foundation staff on study findings and will work with RWJF communications staff to prepare and disseminate a policy brief. In addition, the papers prepared for the supplement can be used as a basis for MPR to work with RWJF's communications staff to identify and organize additional vehicles for disseminating findings to critical audiences, such as government agencies, policy makers, and the food and beverage industries.
