Policy makers in Washington, D.C., are taking a serious look at major health care reform for the first time in many years. The next two years will be a critical period for reform efforts. This grant will provide funds to the Urban Institute to conduct "quick-strike" policy research and analysis in this dynamic policy making environment to inform the policy process. The changing nature of the health care reform debate makes it difficult to accurately predict the most pressing issues ahead of time, so the project will be designed to maximize flexibility. Research topics will be selected through regularly scheduled, collaborative discussions between the Foundation and the grantee. The project's deliverables will vary depending on the topic and the audience, but they are likely to include several policy briefs and longer reports.
