Implementing and expanding a childhood obesity intervention program in Vineland, N.J.

The Foundation's program, New Jersey Health Initiatives, was designed to support projects in New Jersey that develop new approaches to resolving the state's health care needs, focusing on the Foundation's goal areas.Using a demonstrated, multifaceted, professionally administered program for 8 to 12 year olds classified above the 85th percentile BMI, this project identifies environmental, behavioral, dietary and physical activity factors contributing to obesity and offers education and support leading to healthier family lifestyles as demonstrated by decreased BMI and changes in nutrition and fitness.
