Recognizing that "all health care is local," the Foundation's Quality/Equality Team is relying on local collaborative efforts by providers, purchasers, and consumers of care to promote market forces that can drive improvements in health care quality. These regional efforts will have the greatest possible impact if they can share knowledge and align their activities. The purpose of this collaboratively developed project is to formally launch the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement (NRHI), an organization that will provide technical assistance and knowledge transfer among regional quality improvement coalitions, inform the national policy agenda on matters affecting regional quality improvement, and serve as a clearinghouse for performance measurement standards, including the support of electronic health records. These are many of the capacities the Team will need to carry out its regional quality improvement strategy. Deliverables for the project will include plans for governance, budget, sustainability and membership. Other activities will include conferences and an information clearinghouse.
