The Foundation's program, Hablamos Juntos: Improving Patient-Provider Communication for Latinos, was designed to demonstrate and assess institutional interventions to provide medical interpretation and translation services for Latinos who have limited English-speaking abilities. In 2005, the Foundation renewed a grant to the Hablamos Juntos national program office (NPO) to capture lessons learned and promote adoption and replication of products/materials developed by grantees during the first phase of the program. Due to the communications-based nature of this most recent grant, the Foundation set aside funds for additional communications support to be provided to the NPO. The support is intended to help the program develop strategies and disseminate key lessons learned to both media and stakeholder audiences; record, transcribe and develop a fully detailed report resulting from each of the program's four thematic workshops; draft a series of policy briefs, white papers and "how to" tools and reports resulting from workshops; and provide editing, graphic design and marketing support for the documents noted above. GYMR Public Relations, a communications firm based in Washington, D.C., provides this communications support.
