Examining the attitudes of minority groups toward the health system and public health

The purpose of this project is to provide critical information about public perceptions of health and the health care system. This effort consists of two smaller projects. The Sub-Ethnicity Project will include public opinion surveys of five racial/ethnic groups on their health-related attitudes, behaviors and experiences with the health care system. Oversampling within each racial/ethnic group will be performed to obtain adequate data from subgroups, or sub-ethnicities, within each racial/ethnic category. The second project, The Health Priorities Project, will include an annual update of the Priorities Scorecard and Surveys. The objective of the Health Priorities Project will be to provide a yearly measurement of public opinion on key health priority areas to aid the Foundation in its planning and communication. The project will include original public opinion surveys, as well as analysis of existing survey data trends. Both projects will result in reports and journal publications. Results will also provide the Foundation with information that may be used to guide its strategic grantmaking. This overall project will be considered successful if it provides the Foundation with helpful data and products that can guide its work.
