Common Ground: Transforming Public Health Information Systems

The Foundation's program, Common Ground: Transforming Public Health Information Systems, was designed as collaborative processes among state and local public health departments to advance the use of information systems to support two different programmatic areas--preparedness and chronic disease. The Marion County Health Department (MCHD) will develop business requirements to substantially enhance its systems for mass prophylaxis, detection of public health emergencies, and coordination with community partners. Through this project, MCHD seeks to meet its goal of protecting the health of all citizens of Marion County by developing automated processes to effectively respond to acute public events. These systems will also be used for routine communicable disease management at MCHD. They plan to apply the business analysis methodology to other projects within MCHD.
