Common Ground: Transforming Public Health Information Systems
The Foundation's program, Common Ground: Transforming Public Health Information Systems, was designed as collaborative processes among state and local public health departments to advance the use of information systems to support two different programmatic areas--preparedness and chronic disease. The Nashville Metro Public Health Department (NMPHD) will define business processes, task flows and information system requirements that support the information needs of the Metro Public Health Incident Command System (ICS) in preventing, responding to, and recovering from a public health emergency. This grant will help address the need for: access to and production of near real-time data and information originating from a multitude of external and disparate sources; a clear understanding of who requires what information, when, in what format and level of aggregation within the NMPHD ICS structure; systems interoperability for uploading/transferring its data and information to its partners; a logical system for managing information and information for its emergency response; and a logical recovery plan for ICS operational information systems to normal operations.
