The Foundation's Robert Wood Johnson Health & Society Scholars Program was designed to build the field of population health by training scholars to investigate the connections among biological, behavioral, environmental, economic, and social determinants of health; and develop, evaluate, and disseminate knowledge and interventions based upon integration of these determinants. This program is designed to produce leaders who will change the questions asked, the methods employed to analyze problems and the range of solutions offered to improve the health of all Americans. Each year the program will enable approximately 18 outstanding individuals who have completed doctoral training to engage in an intensive two-year program at one of six nationally prominent universities. The fourth cohort of Health & Society Scholars will enter training in August or September 2006.This grant supports the participation of University of Pennsylvania, Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, in this Program.
