The schools of medicine and dentistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) sponsor an intensive summer preparation program for minority and disadvantaged students interested in the health professions. While RWJF's current summer enrichment investment concentrates on students completing the first and second years of college, the UNC Medical Education Program focuses on the preparation of third and fourth year undergraduate minority and disadvantaged students. The purpose of this project is to conduct a formal curriculum review, provide a dedicated summer faculty instructor and strengthen the tracking of student outcomes over time.
