Planning and fielding an employer survey in the state of Massachusetts

The Foundation's Health Tracking initiative was designed to support efforts to understand better health system changes and how these changes affect people. This project examines how employers in Massachusetts are responding to health care reform legislation passed in April 2006. The grant will fund a 2007 and 2008 survey of Massachusetts employers. The research design calls for pre and post observations of Massachusetts employers, with a national survey of employers constituting the comparison group. The Kaiser Family Foundation Employer Benefits Surveys for 2007 and 2008 will provide data on national trends (the national survey is supported in full by Kaiser). This project will provide policy-makers with important information regarding employers' responses to health reform in the state of Massachusetts. The project will also inform the Foundation's strategic objectives. Deliverables include a public use data file, three Issue Briefs, two peer-reviewed articles and a chart pack.
