The Foundation's program, Finding Answers: Disparities Research for Change, is a multifaceted initiative designed to use research and evaluation to test hypothetical solutions for reducing racial and ethnic disparities in health care settings and actual disparity reduction outcomes in ongoing programs. The Foundation's national programs address a specific issue that corresponds with one of the Foundation's key interest areas. National Program Offices (NPOs) serve as the centralized location through which grant applications are accepted and processed, and also through which the multiple projects are managed and supported. NPOs receive a high volume of grant applications and, therefore, NPO staffs focus much of their review on the administrative functions of processing these applications. The purpose of this project is to establish an external Administrative Support Office (ASO) for the Finding Answers: Disparities Research for Change initiative's NPO. This pilot effort will create an office exclusively responsible for handling the strictly administrative functions of processing grant applications to allow NPO staff to devote more of their time to more substantial grant review and project support.
