The Foundation's program, After School: Connecting Children at Risk With Responsible Adults to Help Reduce Youth Substance Abuse and Other Health-Compromising Behaviors, was designed to support a three-city demonstration project designed to connect at-risk urban youth with responsible adults in activities after school.This grant represents a transfer of funds from the United Way of Massachusetts Bay to Boston After School & Beyond, a new 501(c)(3) entity, and will continue to support the development and implementation of a new public/private partnership organization devoted to developing and empowering after school activities in Boston. The partnership seeks to improve the quantity and quality of after school programming available to children and youth throughout Boston by providing critical support to strengthen after school organizations and programs in ways that are sustainable.
