Health Level Seven (HL7) is a volunteer-driven technical standards development organization that focuses on the standards for exchanging health information electronically. Due to the importance of standards in the development of a national health information infrastructure, HL7 will be increasingly relied upon to produce timely standards. This project will assist HL7 in engaging the services of a management consulting firm to address the strategic long-term goals for HL7, its role at the national level in the increasingly crowded standards/interoperability space, and how it will operate most effectively to expedite the standards development of its members.
