Achieving national consensus on quality measures for ambulatory care

Despite the central importance of outpatient care to effective prevention and management of chronic conditions, there is no standard measurement set for quality at the individual provider or office level that can be used for public reporting, reimbursement, or quality improvement. This project will be considered successful if the National Quality Forum's consensus process endorses standard performance measures for outpatient quality, provides recommendations for collection and reporting of the measures, and prioritizes recommendations for improving measures and data collection methods.
