Injury Free Coalition for Kids: Dissemination of a Model Injury Prevention Program for Children and Adolescents

The Foundation's program, Injury Free Coalition for Kids: Dissemination of a Model Injury Prevention Program for Children and Adolescents, was designed to reduce and prevent injuries to children through a hospital-based, research-driven model, implemented in partnership with coalitions of community stakeholders. This grant supports programs currently under way to decrease injury to children. These programs include: a bicycle helmet program designed to encourage the use of bicycle helmets and educate the pediatric population through bicycle fairs, educational programs, and a low-cost bike helmet distribution campaign; raising awareness of motor vehicle occupant safety through a media campaign, Hold on to Dear Life; car seat check events and a car seat promotion campaign with the maternity unit and for needy families; a program to institute a campaign on helmet use while engaging in winter sports; and the Utah Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Program for parents of all newborn children.
