The Foundation's program, Injury Free Coalition for Kids: Dissemination of a Model Injury Prevention Program for Children and Adolescents, was designed to reduce and prevent injuries to children through a hospital-based, research-driven model, implemented in partnership with coalitions of community stakeholders. This grant provides support for programs currently under way to reduce injury to children. These programs include: an educational program focused on improving teenage drivers' understanding of safe driving guidelines; improving teenage drivers' understanding of the consequences (physical, emotional, and legal) of being in a motor vehicle crash; and tracking of students' attitudes about safe driving via an attitudinal survey administered pre- and post-intervention. Included in the intervention will be a trauma education presentation, incentive program, peer education, student and community agreements, and public awareness initiatives and recognition.
