Active for Life: Increasing Physical Activity Levels in Adults Age 50 and Older

The Foundation's program, Active for Life: Increasing Physical Activity Levels in Adults Age 50 and Older, was designed to encourage adults 50+ to increase activity levels by replicating proven programs in real-world settings and identifying and testing communication strategies for the promotion of physical activity. The Greater Detroit Area Health Council leads a consortium, including local senior service, faith-based, and community-building organizations. The purpose of this project is to test the effectiveness of implementing the Active Living Everyday group model program to increase the level of physical activity among sedentary adults in the Detroit area. Populations targeted will be four lower-income neighborhoods in Detroit -- Harmony Village, Rosa Parks, University, and Kettering-Butzel.
