The Foundation's program, Pipeline, Profession and Practice: Community-Based Dental Education, was designed to assist dental schools to increase access to dental care for underserved populations. The Pipeline initiative was developed to help address the critical shortage of oral health care services for low-income and special needs populations. This grant provides renewal support to evaluate the impact of the three pipeline intervention components designed to: (1) increase recruitment and retention of underrepresented minority and disadvantaged students; (2) revise didactic and clinical curricula to integrate community-based practices into dental schools' educational programs; and (3) establish community-based clinical education programs. The evaluation will provide annual feedback reports to sites and the Foundation, as well as a publishable comprehensive final report.
