The Foundation's program, Research Initiative on Health Insurance, was designed to identify the knowledge gaps in this area, generate research on these questions, disseminate the research, develop issue briefs, and establish a Web site to communicate information on this topic. This grant provides additional communications support to the Economic Research Initiative on the Uninsured (ERIU) project at the University of Michigan. ERIU is a research project funded by the Foundation to conduct research from economists' perspectives on the issue of uninsured Americans. The project receives communications support from a team comprised of the firm Garrett Yu McCabe & Reis (GYMR) and a senior associate from Burness Communications, under a contract between GYMR and the Foundation. This team is helping the ERIU project promote and disseminate its research results among key audiences such as policymakers, journalists, and other researchers. Because ERIU is housed at the University of Michigan, however, project staff must work with the University of Michigan Web team to design and build a Web site for the project. Therefore, although the current communications team gives the project staff strategic advice about what to place on the Web site, they are not contracted to actually build the structure or write content for the Web site
