Research on corporate finance and consolidation in health care

The Foundation's program, Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization, was designed to support policy analysis, research, evaluation and demonstration projects that will provide public and private decision leaders with usable and timely information on health care policy and financing issues.This grant supports a study that will measure and explain the flows of financial capital into the health insurance, hospital, and biotechnology sectors between 2000 and 2005. It will use data from investment banks, bond rating agencies, and industry advisory firms (with cooperation from an advisory panel) to analyze the influence of capital access on the organizational consolidation of the three sectors and derive implications of the capital market analysis for public policy with respect to financial information disclosure and antitrust law.
