The Foundation's SmokeLess States: National Tobacco Policy Initiative is a program that supports development and implementation of comprehensive statewide strategies to reduce tobacco use through education, treatment, and policy initiatives. The American Lung Association of Pennsylvania has received a grant on behalf of the American Cancer Society and the Pennsylvania Alliance to Control Tobacco (PACT). PACT will seek a $1.00 increase in the state tobacco excise tax. Once successful, PACT will conduct a public education/awareness campaign regarding preemption and clean indoor air laws.
