Evaluation of RWJF's Reclaiming Futures program

The Foundation's program, Reclaiming Futures: Communities Helping Teens Overcome Drugs, Alcohol & Crime®, was designed to build community solutions to substance abuse and delinquency by developing the systems infrastructure necessary to deliver comprehensive care within the juvenile justice system. This grant supports an evaluation that will provide both formative and outcome information for the Foundation, the Reclaiming Futures' National Program Office (NPO), and the field-at-large. The main goal will be to measure the changes that take place in these integrated care systems and the substance abuse and recidivism outcomes for youth they serve. This will be done by working closely with the communities to identify appropriate system and community outcome measures and survey work to track outcomes for participating youth. The evaluation will provide information to the Foundation and NPO through yearly reports, information sharing at annual meetings, and topic-specific manuscripts to share with the field. This evaluation will be considered successful if it measures the impact of these grantee projects on their local juvenile justice system and the youth they serve, and shares the lessons learned with interested parties.
