A current Local Initiative Funding Partners Program grantee, Committee for Hispanic Children and Families, serves Spanish-speaking immigrants by providing: (1) crisis counseling at locations where new immigrants cluster; (2) AIDS education; and (3) counseling to Latina women. Since September 11, they have been redirecting their efforts to disaster-related counseling, including helping the families of workers lost in the World Trade Center attacks and workers and families who have lost their jobs as a result of the attacks. This grant provides support for mental health services to the immigrants in this community.
