Research on health economics and policy

Two important and enduring questions in health economics are: what are the determinants of expenditures and what are the determinants of health. Extensive research over the last 35 years has produced a variety of answers to these questions, depending in part on the specific context within which the questions were posed. The purpose of this project is to expand on earlier research in health economics and health policy, including dissemination of the research results. The expanded research efforts will have an emphasis on the following subjects: (1) medical innovations; (2) mortality differentials; and (3) the economics of aging. Research findings will be disseminated through scholarly articles and books, as well as presentations to broad audiences.
