Exploring online health care in the information age: White papers and workshops

When faced with a health problem or concern, the typical online American adult is now more likely to turn to the Internet than to consult a physician. With the help of rich networks of health-related online resources, e-patients are managing more and more of their own health care. They are creating a new patient-centered healthcare system that is now operating side-by-side with our traditional provider-centered system. The purpose of this project is to produce two white papers in the area of online consumers and patients in addition to convening two one-day workshops/retreats on the same two topics. It is hoped that this project will result in the identification of key areas in consumer demand for interactive health technologies and provide recommendations for future programming.
