The Foundation's program, Injury Free Coalition for Kids: Dissemination of a Model Injury Prevention Program For Children and Adolescents, was designed to reduce and prevent injuries to children through a hospital-based, research-driven model, implemented in partnership with coalitions of community stakeholders. This grant provides support for the establishment of a national program office for a highly successful pediatric injury prevention program, and extends the dissemination to at least 40 additional hospitals. While the majority of hospitals funded will be starting their injury prevention programs from the ground up, other hospitals have well established pediatric injury free programs and would serve as mentor institutions to their smaller, referral hospitals. Project deliverables are a documented decrease in unintentional injury to children at funded sites, institutionalization of injury prevention programs in 40 hospitals nationwide, development of a long-term partnership with NACHRI and other organizations to increase the acceptance of the need for targeted pediatric injury prevention initiatives.
