The Foundation's Southern Rural Access Program was designed to increase access to health care services in eight rural underserved states. This grant provides support to the Alabama Primary Health Care Association to enable it to assume leadership for the Alabama project of the Southern Rural Access Program (SRAP). The previous lead agency, West Alabama Health Services, Inc., has lost its core funding of $6 million per year from the federal government. The project's stakeholder board unanimously recommended the Alabama Primary Health Care Association to lead the initiative. The grant will provide resources to the Association to manage the project as well as funds to eight subcontractors involved in this multi-faceted efforts.
