Technical assistance and direction for RWJF's Pipeline, Profession and Practice program

The Foundation's program, Pipeline, Profession and Practice: Community-Based Dental Education, was designed to assist dental schools to increase access to dental care for underserved populations.Gaining access to oral health care services for low-income and special-needs populations has become dire. Several dental schools have closed in the past decade, and the number of dental school graduates has declined almost 40 percent since the 1980s. The public safety net for dental care is very limited, with more than 90 percent of dentists in private practice. Few dentists are willing to accept Medicaid, State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), or those without dental insurance. This grant provides continued support for technical assistance and direction for the Foundation's Pipeline, Profession and Practice program.
