While some epidemiological data on the physical activity levels of older adults exist, there is little information on this audience regarding consumer behaviors related to physical activity. In order to develop effective physical activity for older adult interventions, information is needed on the barriers, incentives, and corresponding issues that older adults have regarding physical activity practices and preferences. This program contract supports a consumer research project designed to develop strategic communication messages and aid physical activity programming interventions in an effort to assist the Foundation's program planning to address physical activity and mid-life and older adults under its strategic grant-making efforts. The project will be conducted in tandem with AARP-funded market research on physical activity-related issues for adults. It will be considered successful if the information gathered proves useful in developing national initiatives around physical activity and older adult programming.
