This project is designed to address one of the Foundation's strategic objectives -- to increase the quantity and quality of substance abuse treatment within the juvenile justice, health care delivery, and traditional treatment systems. To date, no national data source tracks the amount and type of ancillary services, including substance abuse assessment, treatment, and aftercare, available through juvenile justice systems. Under this grant, project staff will work with experts in the field to determine the most reliable way to measure these services and will conduct a survey to establish a national baseline. The survey will then be conducted annually to track changes over time.
