The Foundation's program, Supporting Families After Welfare Reform: Access to Medicaid, SCHIP and Food Stamps, was designed to help states and large counties solve problems in eligibility processes that make it difficult for low-income families to access and retain Medicaid, the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), or Food Stamps, particularly families moving from welfare to work. This grant provides support for computer programmers to extract performance reports for: (1) the states; (2) program content experts in Medicaid, SCHIP, and Food Stamps to help state and local staff analyze problems and build implementation plans to resolve them; (3) the team of consultants to provide business process consultation; and (4) consultants to deliver training workshops to the grantees and technical assistance providers.
